I went for my passport interview at the IPS Chelmsford office almost 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately that day their IT system was down so they conducted the interview manually. From that day anytime I call their advice line for my application update they tell me that they are still processing. Looking at the passport timeline most people get their passport 4-5 days after the interview. Mine is almost 2 weeks since I did the interview. Has anybody experienced this situation before?, do you suggest I book another interview? any suggestions would be very much appreciated

If you already attended the interview then there is no need for another interview.

When you went there, did you notice the amount of people coming for interview.

Now just imagine, their IT system is down and then they have to process all that backlog created for thousands of people.

I am sure you will get your passport, just a delay due to the technical glitch on their end.
