It should be so far as the degree is comparable to a uk degree and was taught in English, wait for confirmation in the soon to be published clarification.

Hi all,
Now that it is becoming clearer about the new englich language requirements, it would be very helpful to me if anyone could shed light on the new rules.
Does the US MS (Master of Science in Computer science) degree count towards satifying the new english language requirement? Do I need to approach NARIC for showing the eligibility or a letter from my university stating that the course was taught in english would suffice.
You inputs would help me a lot in deciding whether to apply before 28th or not.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Kantave

I assume you are not a US citizen. If you satisfied an English requirement for PBS entry clearance that should suffice. If not, a NARIC statement of comparability may be required or possibly a print out from the PBS calculator is points are awarded.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I am not an US citizen. Is it either or both? Do they require both NARIC comparability and a letter from the US institution or either of them?
Thank you very much it is very helpful.

Dear Guru,
Are you sure " NARIC statement of comparability is required"?
I was thinking Degree certificate and A letter from the institution is enough.
If NARIC statement of comparability is mandatory, all potential citizenship seekers have to spend extra money for this statement.
Please confirm.

It appears to be mandatory for immigration applications, so I am assuming it will be the same for nationality. It will certainly be required if you did not satisfy a B1 requirement for entry clearance and/or where the PBS calculator awards zero points.

I should also draw the OP to:

the USA; and provides the specified documents;
So if the degree was awarded by the US, only the statement of comparability would be required or possibly a print out from the PBS calculator along with the original degree certificate. You do not need to prove it was taught in English as that presumption exists.

Thanks for the replies
Please excuse me for the ignorance but how can I access PBS calculator. I did not use PBS before and tier1/tier2 was not the basis of eligibility for naturalization.
Any information would be really helpful
Thanks
