I acquired PR 8 years ago and then my company transferred me to another country.

Now I am willing to come back and so hoping to apply for British passport.

I would like to know what are requirements for me to apply for British Passport. I understand I have to live in for at least 12 months in the country before I make my application and which is fine.

But other than 12 months period, what are the other requirements? Can anyone please help/advise.

Staying away from UK for more than 2 years invalidates your ILR (PR).
If you have been away for more than 2 years, you must apply for a visa or an entry clearance certificate before you can return to UK.

Takes about 2 - 3 months for you to get the clearance.

An EEA national wouldn't be apply for entry clearance. If you've been away for more than 2 consecutive years then you may have lost your PR. However, in reality I'm not sure that the UKBA would actually try and say you have lost it, unless you write down on an application you were absent for 2 years (such as a citizenship application)?

No - I used to come in the country almost every year for one month as I am still the employee of UK company and that is not a problem. I have already checked on that part.

All I am looking to have is understand the rules for applying British passport for people who already have PR but have not living permanently in the country for a while due to work situation.

When did your company transfer you? How long were you absent from the UK? Did you perhaps visit the UK during your transfer?

Well - I was transferred about 5 years ago. But Yes, I have been visiting the UK every year during this period.
