Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been asked before and if it sounds silly. I applied for my ILR by post after 5year HSMP and Tier 1 on 11 June 2012. My ILR was granted in December 2012. My daughter was born in October 2012 while my applicaiton was still with the HO through no fault of mine.

Do I have to register her as British or can just apply for her passport.

Thanks in advance

If BRP is dated after child's birth then you need to register your childas BC first.

Thanks for your reply but the confusing thing is the expiry date on my BPR is 12 June 2022. Surely that should mean the BPR started on 11 June 2012 which is when my visa expired.

On front of BRP, it says place and date of issue. That is when your iLR starts from.

Thanks Akhurshid, for taking the time to answer my query.

One last question, if you know the answer, my mate is about to apply for his naturalisation as British citizen and wasn't sure if they would let him keep his old passport and BPR in case he needed to travel to his former country. Any ideas

UK allows dual nationality as long original country allows that as well so it will depend on his current nationality.
