I know UKBA states 20days for non EEA and 10days for EEA but are actual dates?

I made MN1 section 1(3) on 7th Octo but so far no approval apart fee deduction on 22nd so wondering about requesting to return documents but don't know any experience or suggestion of experienced members? Can somebody suggest please. Got urgent travel plan on 1st Dec and flights tickets booked...
