Speeding conviction from court- Impact on naturalisation?

Hi

I got my ILR in Feb 2013 and am eligible for BC in Feb 2014. In Jul 2013, I was stopped by police for over speeding on a motorway. as I was close to 100 mph, I was told I might have to attend the court.

In Nov '13 I did get a notice to either attend the court or plead guilty through Post. I had no choice of not pleading guilty and hence I did plead guilty through post. I am now given 6 points and a fine which I have paid in full.

Because this was a conviction in court, would this impact the BC application. Should I wait for 3 years (or 1 year) before I apply, or can I apply in Feb 2014 to get the BC.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated

Thanks
Sree

Either in November 2015 with added discretion or November 2016 without.

Amber is spot on with the answer.

Only if you believe in miracles but please don't waste your money applying before the dates suggested by Amber

Hi Amber

Thanks for the response. So should we count the 3 Year (or the 2 year with discretion) period from the day I received the letter from court, to apply for BC. Or should I count it from the day I was convicted in court.

The reason I am asking is , I received the letter from Court on in early Nov '13 and the hearing date for the case in court was 10 Dec '13.

So should I wait for three years from 10 Dec '13 or from date I received the letter from court.

You also mentioned I can apply in Nov 2015 with discretion. Can you please let me know more on this. Is there anything I can do to be in the discretion option. Please let me know.

Thanks again

Sree

See Question 8 of the British Citizenship – Good Character Requirement FAQs (click) for the discretion.
