I have received a letter form Home Office instructing me to arrange citizenship ceremony at the local council. Unfortunately I had to travel urgently to India for family reasons. I am still in India and may not be able to return to the UK for 3-6 months. Is there any possibility that I will be able to carry out oath ceremony in india? My wife is not a british citizen.
Please share information on this subject.
Thanks

Write to them and ask them to arrange one in India

Do not tell them you cannot return for 3 to 6 months. Tell them there is an emergency and you would like to have the oath done in India.

As per their website...
Ceremonies in the United Kingdom are conducted on our behalf by registrars in local areas. If you are abroad, the ceremony will be conducted by the diplomatic post in the country where you live.

Could someone please confirm that the oath ceremony can only be organised abroad if your spouse is British? From exprience has anyone attended the ceremony abroad, if so, under what circumstances? Thanks.
