Interview questions about accommodation

Hi All,

I am currently on ILR (after 5 years Tier 1) and will apply for BC in August 2014.

I have been reading through the expected interview questions for the passport application. I am slightly concerned regarding the extensive questions being asked.

Importantly, there are questions about the current accommodation (where do you live, with whom, type of accommodation, tax code...). I am concerned because I rent a room in the same house with a resident landlord. I pay him the rent (inclusive bills) monthly but we did not have a written agreement. I never checked with him regarding council tax. Do you think I need to check this with him? I am concerned he is not paying it? I am worried they will ask me about this in the interview? Do you think that they will check this information with other departments (like local council or contact the landlord..)?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

There is nothing to be concerned of.

The passport interview is only for the purpose of the Identity verification to prevent any identity fraud. They will be not be doing any checks with local authorities.

So you can put your mind at ease and also since you have already got ILR, you should not be worrying too much about these things. You are paying your rent (inclusive of utility bills) to Landlord and its his/her responsibility to pay the council tax.
