I'm applying for BritishCitizenship and I need two referees. I'm a bit confused why GPs are not listed on the list of professionnals who can sign the form. So that is mean that my GP cannot sign the form? Also what is considered as Bank Official? if I have a friend who work at a Bank can he sign no matter what position. thank you

I am sure a bank worker can be referee.

Hi Sorry to hijack this thread. I am making my applications soon and I have two referees.

Ref 1: Senior Manager in an IT business
Ref 2: IT Manager

I don't work for any of them, they know me personally and both are over the age of 25 and are British Nationals. Are these acceptable referees?

Your second referee is all right but not sure about the first one. I suggest you check here:

Thanks milan69. Wouldn't ref 1 map to Manager/Personnel officer (of limited company) as listed in the document you linked?

As listed the first referee can be a Manager/Personnel Officer of a VAT registered Company.

The first referee works for a large company which is VAT registered. I don't understand why they won't qualify? Can you please explain why you think they might be applicable? Sorry for being persistent on this.

I believe there is a difference between working for VAT registered company and being manager of one no matter how big or small company is. I think it is the title and responsibility that makes that person suitable to be a referee.

Hello, Thank you for all your replies. I'm so stressed because of this referee situation. I have appointment tomorrow with NCS so I finally managed to get referees. Do you think this will be ok:

Form AN for my husband and I, Referee 1: A friend who works for Santander as Personal Banker (It says on the list of acceptable professionnals, Bank/Building Society Official). Referee 2: Our previous landlord, we stayed at his property for 4 years, he is British, 25+

Form MN1 for our daughter, I asked her teacher to sign and she refused because my daughter only started reception and her teacher think she has to know her "personally" for more than 3 years!!!

So as referees I have: Imam from a Mosque (Minister of religion) and a friend of the family who is British, 25+

Do you think this is ok for us.

Thank you
