Professional Referee (Friend or Professional Capacity)

Hi all,

I hope you could clear this up for me. I'm planning to apply for Naturalisation soon and I've got a question for the referee section.

For the professional referee, he/she would have to put down how they know me. Do I have to know the person in professional capacity or can he/she be a friend with a professional standing?

Has anyone had a problem with either? If you could share your knowledge or past experience with me, it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!!

Either way is fine.

Thank you Jambo. That makes it easier as I only know friends with professional standing and I cant think of anyone I have professional dealings with that has known me for 3 years or more.

Many thanks again :)

Hi Jambo,

I would like to use my girlfriend's Mum as my referee as she works for the council. Is this ok or will it be classified as someone who is related to me?
