EU citizen applying for naturalisation

Hi,
I am an EU national (Portugal) married to a British-born national (and our 3 year old son only has a British passport). I have been in the UK for over 10 years.

It has become more and more difficult to renew my Portuguese passport from the UK, hence the application for naturalisation.

I have recently passed The Life in the UK test and understand I need to prove my knowledge of English by passing one of the tests noted on the website.

However my query is whether I need to provide a valid EU passport or ID with my application (both have expired recently). I have tried to find a helpline number to ask someone, but to no avail.

Does anyone know whether an expired EU passport can be sent with the application?

An expired ID is OK. If the ID expired a while back (several months), you might need to provide additional evidence to show you have been resident in the UK during that time.

Are you aware that you will need to prove you have been exercising treaty rights for 5 years (employment, study etc) to be eligible for naturalisation? Just residence in the UK is not enough (even if married to BC).

Thank you jambo.

Yes I am aware I need to exercise my treaty rights - I have been working in the UK since I have been here so providing P60s etc will not be a problem.

Now I just need to find an English test to take.
