Citizenship after Surrinder Singh Route

Hi, I wanted to know how long my husband will have to wait to get citizenship. I am a British citizen and I exercised my rights in Ireland. We have recently applied for a resident card. My husband is a non-EU national.

I have read on the HO website but I'm still confused. It says family of EU citizens have to apply after 5 years and possibly one year of ILR (which is PR). But it also says if your a family of a British citizen you can apply after 3 years.

So am I right in thinking we can apply after 3 years? If not, can someone please explain it to me :D Thanks!

He'd need to be settled in order to naturalise, so after 5 years, subject to the other requirements.

So can he apply directly after 5 years or will he need to apply for PR?

Either way, however, if he has a PR card it ensures that his application will not be refused on the basis of being settled.

Okay thank you very much for your help :) Is there anything I need to have to prove 5 year residency for PR? I know I have to submit all the same docs as EEA2 but will he need to add any other proof for citizenship?
Just making sure! Thanks again..
