Hi, my child was born in UK in 2003 and live here in UK eversince with both parents from EEU (Italy). From what i understand so far,for my child to apply for British passport, at least one of the parent has to be settled with indefinite right to remain residence certificate in UK at the time the child was born.
As EEU citizen, we thought that we do not need to apply for any of this. We always work and live here legally since 1998.
Can anyone help and explain how can we apply for our child to have British passport.
Thank you
Ester and Luca

Hello, no neither of of us apply or received a PR card , we didn't even know such card existed? As I mentioned we never need it , I was sure that been an EEU citizen had no restriction in stay indefinetily in uk ?
What could be my options now? I have evidence of me been here in form of P 60 , employment letters etc..that will be enough?
Thank you for your help.

In that case your child is not British yet but can apply to register as British Citizen using form MN1. There is a fee to pay. You will need to provide evidence of employment for 5 years (5 P60s would do the trick).

Hi,yes that's what I thought;
can we register her under the cause she was born in uk and lived here since the last 10 years and 1/2 ,if that the case we (parents) don't need to supply and show any p60 etc..?
Thank you in advance.

The PR is automatic but just makes the application easier if you have a PR card.

Yes you can. It is your choice under which section to apply under. Although I would have thought it is easier to provide 5 P60s than proof of residence for the child for the full 10 years (which is required under the 10 years criteria).
