Any idea what are the external checks done for citizenship applicants

As I called today check application progress and told that HO awaiting results for these checks

HO office performs police check for every applicant amongst other checks.

If u can explain what they mean by these checks I would very grateful

Once you submit an application and once the fee is taken the first thing HO does is run a police check on every applicant. They check if you have criminal record, CCJ, etc..
They also might check revenue & Customs but that depends on type of application for naturalization.

I applied on 7/11/13 along with my wife and 3 children
Have no criminal record or ccj
But do you think external checks is the second step after they finish other checks and do u thinks it is a bad sign

Its not a bad sign necessarily and these checks are routinely done. I am sorry that you have been waiting since November as I can only imagine how it feels. You can contact your MP after 6 months pass and that might help speed up the process.

I did contact my MP 2 month a go and they replied to him saying that they are waiting checks result
And it's only today I found out that they are waiting for external checks result, although my application is 5+1 yrs ilr and even my job is not much of concern to HO(warehouse worker)

The only thing I can suggest is to contact your MP again as tomorrow will be 6 months passed. HO is approving March applicants as we speak.

I don't know what to say I just feel our 5 applications were abandoned
