BC application and benefits claim?

Hi everyone,

I am totally confused and I was wondering if you could help.
I am a EEA national and have lived in the UK for almost 7 years.
I automatically obtained permanent residence in the UK 2 years ago but never applied for the PR card.
Now I am about to claim child benefit and I was wondering if by claiming a benefit I will lose the opportunity to apply for british citizenship. I cannot apply now for BC because of financial difficulties (it costs around 1k as far as I am concerned).
If I apply for the card in the next couple of months and receive it within this year does this mean that since I have the card I have the right to apply for BC anytime in the future? Or do I have to prove that I exercise treaty rights at the time and for the past 5 years, when I apply for BC?

Thank you! :)

No affect. I'd apply for a PR document as it makes it easier to apply for citizenship.
