When to approach NCS? Before or After 1 yr of ILR

Hi,
I am aware that I need to wait for 1 yr after ILR , in order to apply for British citizenship.
I am planning to use Nationality Checking Services offered by various councils, however I am not sure if I can approach them before completing 1 yr (say 3 weeks beforehand) or I need to let 365 days finish and then approach them for appointment?
Do I need to take NCS appointment before 365 days or the NCS appointment also needs to be after 365 days?
I am bit concerned about Saturday slots may fill up quickly (if they have any) , so thinking of being proactive in terms of booking the NCS.
Anyone with previous experience, please suggest. Thanks!!
