Hi, I have a general question : can an ILR holder living abroad can be a naturalized British by applying British passport from abroad or is he has to be in Britain.

British passport is not the same thing as naturalisation. Naturalisation is the process to become a British citizen. A British citizen can apply for a British passport.

A British citizen can apply for passport from abroad. In most cases, you can't apply for naturalisation from abroad. The exception is if you are married to a British citizen and have moved permanently abroad. You would still need to meet the residence requirements.

How long have you been abroad?
