Proof of English proficiency for Form AN

Hello all
I am applying for British naturalisation based on residence in the UK for the past 5 years and have passed my Life in the UK test. For my English language proficiency proof, I would like to submit my MSc. degree from the London School of Economics but I'm not sure if this will be enough in itself as the booklet for form AN suggests I also need a certification from UK NARIC that this degree was studied in English.
Will it be enough to submit a copy of the degree?
NARIC have advised they will not do an English Language Assessment on a UK degree. Should I also ask the LSE to send me a letter stating that the degree was taught in English?

Thank you!

Check if PBS calculator has the LSE on it? If it, does it give you 35 points for masters degree? If it does then take a print out of summary and that should be enough.

Thanks akhurshid, it only gives me 10 points for English language when I fill in details of my degree... I checked the Guide AN and it does state that I can provide "a print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of English" so there is no mention of how many points I need. Where did you read about 35 points?
Thank you for your help!

You don't need to prove 35 points as such but having 35 points means your degree is recognised by points based calculator. Example below.

You said you get 10 points for English, what option did you select for English requirement?

Hi akhurshid, I put down my degree info just like the one you posted, but the last column says "Points for English language" and I have a 10 instead of 35 like you do.
Are you referring to my answer on the form?
I went for:

"I have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor's or Master's degree or PhD in the United Kingdom and:
(ii) the qualification was taught or researched in the UK or a majority English speaking country (other than Canada)"

So based on Guide AN, I need to submit my original degree certificate and one of the following:
"1. A print out from the points based calculator, with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of your degree and the level of English"

This leads me to believe how many points I get is irrelevant, am I wrong?
Thanks again for your quick reply as well!

You are mixing english language requirement with degree points in the calculator.
You will get 0 points if your master's degree is not recognised.
Can you share a screen shot of what you are talking about(PBS not AN form)

If you have a degree taught/from a UK university, you only need your degree certificate to satisfy the English language requirement.

I would double check that with home office or gurus on this page.
I remember reading somewhere that if your degree is accepted on PBS calculator, it should give you full points for the degree(i.e. 35 points for masters). You are not getting 35 points so I am not sure if it is accepted.
I can't even remember where I read that so I could be wrong. Best thing would be to double check before submitting the application.
Have you done any other english course like ielts? You can still use that if you had used it with application before and it has expired now.

Thank you both!
Is there anyone I can ask specifically that you know of? Haven't really been able to find relevant contact details on the Home Office page except for an email address I sent a message to weeks ago!

Again, you don't need the PBS calculator if you have a UK taught degree, you only need to submit your degree certificate. To quote what you said earlier on in the thread, where you have left off point (ii) :

have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised
standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the United Kingdom and:

(i) UK NARIC has confirmed that the qualification was taught or researched in English; or

(ii) the qualification was taught or researched in the UK or a majority English speaking country
(other than Canada);

Hey CR001,

I have a question for you, when an applicant is using original degree certificate and a print out from the points-based calculator, with the equivalent level of degree and the level of English to satisfy the knowledge of language in the UK requirement. Which option they should choose while filling section 1.22? As form AN doesn't give you an option to tick "Print out from points based calculator and original degree certificate attached". Should they choose......

2. I have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised
standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the United Kingdom and:

(i) UK NARIC has confirmed that the qualification was taught or researched in English;

Charl

Thanks CR001 it looks like the document akhurshid has linked to as well, says that if the degree is from the UK (among other obvious countries) you must assume it's been done in English. I will still add the PBS screen shot too just in case.
Thanks both for your help!

Hi! Alecsutza,

I sent just my UK Master's degree. It was enough. You don't need to send unnecessary documents.

Hi 19eggs
That is such a relief - thanks for posting!
