Hi,

Received a letter for my wife asking them to contact with regards to her passport application.

When contacted, they asked to send her ILR to verify some details.

I was very surprised that they asked this question after all Naturalizaiton process is done and while applying the passport. They even don't know that now ILR is being issue in Biometric and they keep on asking for the passport page where ILR is stamped.

Hope everything goes on smooth as I am not sure what validation they need to do, Although the guy whom we spoke was very nice and told that nothing to worry or concern.

Regards
Krish

Hi

Can anyone advise whether Passport office have the right to ask for addtional documentation as well.

Also, i had two passports where i sent the uncancelled one, does it mean they will ask my old passport as well?

Please clarify whether anyone had received letter from passport office requesting additional documentaiton.

Regards
Krish

Link below explains the documents required.

"3. IDENTITY DOCUMENTS
• If not born in the country from which you are applying, the passport that you used to travel to that country (permanent residence certificate or naturalisation certificate for that country would also be considered)
• Certified copy of photo ID (driving licence NOT accepted as ID) "

Hi

My wife have already sent the Naturalization certificate.

Now, I am getting bit sceptical as I sent only my current indian passport and not my old passport which had the uk entry visa.

Is it mandatory as they asked to send only uncancelled passports.

Also the link you have given is for only people born in UK. I am a Naturalized one.

Supporting documentation adults need to apply for a British passport (by birth in the UK).

When I applied for my children, I am pretty sure form asked all the passports to be sent(current and expired).
If they are asking for more documents then just send what they are asking.

only uncancelled passport(s) is required. for naturalised british citizens, passport used to enter into UK for the first time is not required (if it's no longer valid).
take a look at page 12-13 of the passport application guide (table of supporting documents).

having said that - HMPO may ask for additional documents. there is nothing to worry - just provide what they are looking for.

They must have changed it then. When I applied for my daughter about an year ago, form actually asked to send all cancelled and current passports so I had to sent both of her passports.

Cancelled is not the same as expired.

You were never required to send cancelled passports.
