appreciate members of this forum ...just need few questions about my English requirement ...
I applied for my citizenship July this year but a letter was sent to me requesting for my English qualification ...in my application sent to them ve already included my Cambridge English key test which I passed when I applied for my spouse and indefinite leave last year ...
My questions are : is my Cambridge English key test not valid anymore ...
If I apply for Pearson English academic test ...home office expect us to ve 36 in each core area of the test ...what does this mean
And finally , what proof will I need to send to them if I pass the test ...cos Pearson does not issue certificate ...
I will be grateful if my questions are answered as soon as possible...thanks

As far as I know the Cambridge Key English Test will have to be Passed with Distinction and Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing marked as Exceptional in order to achieve CEFR Level B1 - which is the level required by HO.
This comes from a document issued on 1 August 2014 by the home office.

What is your English Key Test Result? In order to be a B1 CEFR Level, you need to pass this 'with distinction'. That means you have a score of over 90 out of 100. It should be stated on your Result Certificate.
Is your score 48 out of 100 at the Key English Test?

I had distinction in my Cambridge English test but the test was taken in 2011. The test I went for on 13th of this month is pearson English academic.. That's where I had 48 overall and more than 36 in each of the communicative skills..

For the test you've taken, a score of 48 seems to he within the boundaries for B1 level (over 43), according to the Pearson website.
On the HO website it says you need to have at least:
Listening – 36 Reading – 36 Writing – 36 Speaking – 36
for the test you've taken. So you should be OK.
HO website says you need:
"Print-out of online score report. Scores must also be sent to the Home Office online. Pearson does not issue paper certificates."
