Hi,

I would like to ask if I can apply for naturalisation / British passport. Please find my details below:

I am holding Pakistani passport.

I received ILR in April 2002 on the basis of marriage.

We were divorced in 2003.

I had been in full time & professional employment in the UK.

I was in the UK and didn't stay outside UK for more than 90 days from 2002 - 2006.

In 2006, I was offered a job abroad.

I travelled abroad in 2006 for job purpose.

I worked abroad from 2006 - 2012.

Between 2006 - 2012, I was regularly travelling to/from UK.

In 2012, I retuned back to UK along with my family.

Since 2012 until date I haven't been outside UK for more than 90 days.

I had been doing my own business since I returned back to UK in 2012 and paying my taxes regularly.

My wife & daughter also came back with me in 2012 on spouse visa and now they have also got ILR.

My question is am I eligible to apply for British passport in Jan 2015?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Many Thanks & Best Regards
Manzoor

You would need 5 years residence with no more than 450 days outside the UK during the 5 years immediately preceding your application and not more than 90 days absence in the final 12 months and you must have been physically present exactly 5 years earlier on the date HO receives your application.

You will need to meet English language level B1 and Life in the UK test.

Why didn't you apply for citizenship before moving abroad in 2006?

I don't understand why you think you might qualify in January 2015? I would think you qualify in 2017.
