Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

I just wanted to know if anybody knew the difference between a warning and a cuatiom and how they are administered ie do you have to go in to the police station to sign a document, give finger prints, mug shots, dna etc. or are they both just verbal

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks in advance

Please do specify the situation where you got warning or caution, ASAIK, there is no need for below
the police station to sign a document, give finger prints, mug shots, dna etc. or are they both just verbal

Thanks for your reply

I reported I got mugged and my phone stolen 7 years ago.

Police called me over the phone said if I admitted I was lying he would let me off with a caution or warning and if I didn't I would need to come down and have a proper interview.

Thanks
