Unless you'd like your child's Passport/BRP card etc back immediately, you can go without NCS.

I went for NCS for my daughter and it paid, a severe bereavement occurred in my family and wife and daughter had to rush abroad, NCS's £90 were and still is the best £90 I've ever spent. Daughter got approval while she was abroad.

I applied for my kid using pos and I did not send any originals of mine. Only my ILR BRP photocopy was sent.
Not even my passport copy.

Mine got approved in about 3 weeks time.
