Hi,

My UK born kids have now received citizenship certificate. Please can anyone guide me what are the next steps and what is the correct order.

I want to apply for their British Passport, surrender Indian passport and get OCI.

For example: if i surrender their indian passport before having British passport they won't be able to travel.

Thanks,
Anas

You've got the order right.

-Apply for British passport
-Surrender Indian passport
-Apply for OCI

In order to apply for a surrender certificate, you need a British Passport number, so that has to be first. And in order to get OCI, you need a surrender certificate, so that has to be first. So really, there is not much choice :D

hi Secret Simon.

Thanks for the info.. I am applying to B PP.

I searched on internet on how to surrender Indian PP but looks like it is a real pain. Is there an easy way of surrendering or applying for OCI without going to the consulate.

Cheers

My experience of the process is that it is quite straightforward, provided you have all the documentation handy and lots of time to spare (let's not forget Indian bureaucracy that quickly). I got the surrender certificate in three working days.
