Hi Guys, Nationality application posted on 4th April 2015 by Royal mail, received by home office on 7th April 2015 and fee taken on 28 April 15, I used old form and paid £906 fee, now I received a letter from Home office to pay £99.00 within 14 days otherwise application would be refused.

My understanding is application date is the POSTING DATE not the receiving date which is 4th April 2015 and my application comes under the old rule.

Am I correct ? please share some info about this what I can do ? thanks in advance.

For citizenship applications, the date of application is the date of receipt by HO not the date posted. See the bottom of page 21 in the AN Guide link below

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... r_2015.pdf

You will need to pay the extra £99 or risk losing the £906 already paid if application is refused.

How clever HO is that they have charged the fee of £906 and now threatening you to pay extra £99 otherwise u will loose £906 as well as application will be refused too.

They should have sent u a letter without charging u the old fee and stating that u r suppose to pay new fee so please pay the new fee otherwise ur application will be invalid or returned BUT they have chosen not to and secured £906 straightaway and leaving u with no choice but to pay extra £99 or loose £906.

So clever, HO is becoming money making machine and service standards r even lower then an old corner shop.

I understand the vent, but like it or not, citizenship is a privilege not a right ( page 8 ) so they can take as much time/money as possible to satisfy themselves/fulfil legal needs.
