British Nationality- Period without travel documents

Hello all,

I am due to submit my application for British Nationality through Naturalization. I am using a NCS and will submit my docs in end of June. From the guidance I gather all the documents will be returned on the day including my passport.

My job demands frequent travel and hence I would need a passport (ILR card) in hand. So my question is, would there be a point through this whole application process where I will have no travel document (passport/ILR card).

I am aware that there will be a point where I will have to surrender my Indian passport. But I was wondering if there will be a moment where I will be stranded any time in this whole ordeal.

I would really appreciate your response.

Many thanks,
V

No

Only when you apply for a British passport will you be without your documents for a couple of weeks.

Thanks CR001.

But correct me if I am wrong. I still can use my Indian passport and IRL card during whilst I wait for my British passport to arrive?

Thanks,
V

When you apply for a British passport, you will need to send your current Indian passport with the application form. For that duration of time, you will not have your travel documents with you.

There is no same-day service for first time UK passport applicants (whether by naturalisation or by birth or descent).
