British citizenship/naturalisation fee

Hi guys,
I just got my ILR approved as a partner of a British citizen and I want to apply for British citizenship.
I checked on the gov.uk website and it cost £1005 to be naturalised as a citizen but I have a close friend and another friend in college who are both naturalised British but they said they didn't pay this much. They only paid £80 - £100 or so. Please shed more light on this for me and I'm sorry for my naivety.
Thanks.

You surely being naive here. May be your friends applied few decades ago. I cant remember it being £80-£100. It definitely is £1005 this year.

May be your friends are confusing it with British passport rather then nationality.

They only paid £80 - £100
It depends on what basis they applied. There are some applications where only the ceremony fee is payable, yours is not one of them though.

Passport is around £80 but you need to naturalise before you can apply for passport.
