Hi all,
I have a query regarding applying. I have been in the UK since 2006, studied for 5 years, and since then have been working for 3.5 years. Two of my friends said that I need 5 years of working time or if I was a student I need to have had private medical insurance. If I didnt have private medical insurance then I need 5 years of work.
Can someone help me on this? Does my student years count towards the 5 years before I can apply or not?
Thank you in advance for answers
Nick

Your friends are correct. Your years as a student would only count if you either had comprehensive health insurance or an EHIC card from the Greek authorities covering those five years as a student.
Else, it would be five years of work that would count for the purposes of getting PR and six years for applying for citizenship.

Thank you for your quick answer,
Is it possible to tell me where this information about medical insurance is said as I cant seem to located it, and is it a requirement or a recommendation.
Also to apply for citizenship I need 5 years of work and 1 or more years of residence as a student or 6 years of work?
Thank you again for your time.

It is a requirement. See the definition of "student" at Section 4d of the
EEA Regulations 2006.

The latter. 5 years of work gives you PR. One year following PR either with or without work gets you to citizenship.
