Applying at NCS Tuesday

Hi all

I’ve got my NCS appointment Tuesday AM, trying to make sure I haven’t messed up.

American, I came to the UK in 1998 on a work permit for one of the Investment Banks. Extended work permit then I took Indefinite Leave to Remain (IRL) in 2002.

I’ve completed the May 2015 AN Form, have reviewed the seven evidence areas. I have two referees, one a Chartered Accountant the other an Ex-local Councillor.

I’ve got Home Office original letters for my work pemit in 1998, a three year extension in 1999, Indefinite Leave to Remain in 2002. I’ve also got HMRC verification of earnings & taxes paid since 2012 (self employment). I’ve got a P45 for PAYE work I do (part time since 2003), my last council tax bill, my passport with ILR stamp, I took three UK Masters so original diplomas and stamped transcripts. I’m married to a Dutch national and have our license, as well as my Life in the UK test letter.

I’ve been out of the UK exactly one day over the past five years.

Am I leaving everything out? Sorta nervous so I don't want to mess this up.

Thanks for your help — will post with times and information as I receive it.

Man, I admire your organisational skills. You are more sorted and pulled together than most people on these forums.

From the evidence, I think you are good to go.

As an aside, I must admit I'm damned jealous of this. I wish I could do that.

PS: You did mean it academically, not as golf tournaments, right? :D

Very unlikely this will catch you out if only 1 day absence in past 5 years but you will need to show you were physically present in the UK exactly 5 years ago to the day on the date that HO receives your application.
(You can usually use stamps in your passport to do this).

Good luck.

I took my wife to Paris for our wedding anniversary, day trip actually (6:30AM out, 8:30PM back) -- that was in September of last year. Isn't the limitation on total number of days?

Is I understand you if I should be ok -- applying via NCS on the 7th, assuming they'll get the application two days later, call it the 9th, so not even one year since I was out of the UK.

I actually put off applying until now intentionally - I left Investment Banking full time in 2008, and until then I was out of the UK a lot. From April 2008 to September 2014 I didn't leave the UK at all.

As well as the overall limit on total & yearly absences there is the requirement to be in the UK on the specific day 5 years before you apply, ie 2010.
So with a single day trip just a year ago you are good to go if you were here on x July 2010 8)
