If you have received a letter from Home Office to enroll your biometrics, follow these steps :
1. Take the letter with you to a Post Office that offers the service (not all of them do). You don't need an appointment.
2. The letter has a barcode on which is specific to you and your application.
3. At the PO, advise them what you are there for, they will direct you to the correct counter.
4. Give the person the letter and they will direct you through the process to take your finger prints and digital photo.
5. They will scan the HO letter and your information will be uploaded automatically to HO.
6. Pay the fee (£19-50) and you are done.

Everyone applying for naturalisation after 6th April 2015, regardless of whether you have done the biometrics in the past or not, will be required to do it as part of the application proccess. The Home Office will send you a letter asking you to go do it at the post office. Not all post offices provide biometric services so you will need to find the right one if/when the time comes

When you apply for naturalisation ---> then they send you a letter to enrol biometrics ---> when you receive that letter, follow the steps that CR001 has outlined above.

Very minor correction to this - the current fee is £19.20

You need to complete the biometric part of the citizenship form but then you wait for the letter from Home Office to enroll your biometrics.

Thanks, been a couple of years since I have had to use the service and took a rough guess
