The AN1 form says: "[..] the other referee must normally be the holder of a British citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25. Both referees should have known the applicant personally for more than 3 years."

Regarding the referee who is a British citizen: can he or she be a recently naturalized person, say less than a year ago? We have a family friend who knows us for more than 5 years, and he recently got naturalized. I was hoping to have him as a referee.

In the application form and the guideline it is not mentioned anywhere for how long the person should have been a British citizen. That should mean as long as the referee is a British citizen at the time of application then he should be OK. Does this sound right?

Comments, especially from gurus, are much appreciated.

Thank you

Correct.
