AN & MN1 applications question

Hi
I'm just about to apply for British citizenship by naturalisation after 5 years + 12 months since indefinite leave to remain.
I'm clear about the process for me an my wife - applying via form AN for both of us (and parting with £1005 per application...), but not clear on how the children application works?
Do children under 18 apply with the parents? all I could find is that for the kids I should use form MN1 but it is not clear if it is to be sent with the parents forms or after our citizenship is approved.
I might have missed something obvious, but I have read through all the documents and several sites and forums and could not find the answer.
Would appreciate your help

Assuming the minor children are also
free from immigration control &,
depending on their place of birth & etc, (which determines the appropriate section of BNA to register under), you can apply either:
a) with one or more parent's applications;
OR
b) if risk-averse, (& you want to see how parents' applications work out), some people choose to apply for their minors afterwards
Again this would be partly determined by the appropriate section of BNA to be used;
ie whether the minor has an
entitlement to register or if registration is at the
discretion of the Home Secretary.
You will need to read the specifics in the MN1 guidance to pin down the exact details on necessary status of one or both parents;
also, who is required to give consent & etc.
If registering by discretion this HO guidance may help too:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... structions
Good luck.

Thank you noajthan for your quick reply.
The kids have gone through the same process as we did - Tier 2 General for 5 years and 12 months of ILTR.
We have always submitted all requests together for the whole family and I want to do the same for the Naturalisation.
It's just not clear from the AN & MN forms whether the same applies for this process hence my question.
To be honest, the forms and form guidance documentation is too focused on what the applicant shouldn't do and where things can go wrong and it seems to be missing the simple, straightforward, successful application.
Thanks again for your help

The forms are generic & apply to many types of applicant in different scenarios.
If the children have ILR then yes they can apply to register at same time as you (parent/s) apply to naturalise.
To make it even clearer (to the caseworker) that it's a family application, you could mention & cross-reference all the different applications in the
'additional information' section of the forms (or include a brief covering letter).
Good luck.
