My naturalisation application was approved on 15/04/15. My first son was born on 29/05/15. Was I a BC at the time of his birth?

I attended the ceremony on 02/06/15 and my passport was issued on 06/07/15.

I need to answer this on my son's passport application form.

The date on your naturalisation certificate determines when you became British.

Yes.

Your certificate is likely dated 2/6/2015 so no, you were not British at the time of his birth.

Was the child born in the UK or born abroad?

You only become British after taking the oath and being given the certificate at the ceremony organised by the council.

The letter from the Home Office does not make you British.

So, your status at the time of birth of your child was the status that you had before citizenship, typically settlement (ILR/PR).

If the child was born to you in the UK while you had settlement status, s/he is still automatically British and will get a British passport.

Born in UK. Do I have to provide my British and Previous nationality passport along with my sons' British passport application ?

Correct. So, you would have had your previous nationality and settled status in the UK at the time of the child's birth.

Your child has British citizenship and the citizenships by descent from its mother and you. Does your previous nationality allow dual citizenship? In that case, you still have that in addition to being a British citizen.

Yes my previous nationality allows dual citizenship. What proof do I need to send along with my child's first British passport application i.e. my passports, naturalisation certificate etc.

Your naturalisation certificate doesn't help, if it's dated after your child was born. It's evidence of your ILR/PR status at the time of child's birth, that is required.

Hi, the guidance on passport application says that only original documents should be sent, photocopies are not accepted.

Two identity docs required are:

* Childs Identity (I assume the birth certificate will suffice as that all I have on him)

* Evidence that they’re eligible for a British passport

Sorry, was thinking of MN1 registration form.

For childs passport you need to send your originals.

Q2: Do I need to send my passport with my child passport application?

If the child has obtained BC from birth because you hold ILR/PR, you will need to send your passport as proof of his claim for BC.
