Applying for citizenship through Form UKM

Hi,

I am considering applying for citizenship using the Form UKM. I have checked by eligibility with various sources and feel comfortable my application will proceed.

I am currently on a Tier 2 ICT and have had an offer from another employer. When I leave my current employer, my Tier 2 ICT will become invalid, that part I understand. However, am I allowed to work during the 6- month period which my citizenship application is being processed by UK Immigration? Or, would the new employer need to sponsor me through a Tier 2 General visa?

Thanks

You are only British once you attend your ceremony. Citizenship applications does not extend your leave to remain conditions if your visa expires.

If you wish to continue working, you will need a valid visa, so yes, your new employer will have to sponsor you for a visa and as you are switching from Tier 2 ICT, there might be a 12 month cooling off period you have to serve in your home country.

My suggestion would be to stick with your current employer until your UKM application has been completed/decided.

Do you have all the required original documents for a UKM application?

Thanks.

Yes, I have all the original documents.

Do you now if the Nationality Checking Service an option for Form UKM?

No unfortunately NCS is not available for UKM applications as HO needs to see ALL of the original documents as they will go through a verification/authenticity process.
