Dear experts ,
I got an ILR on 5 jan 2015. I am eligible to apply for BC on 5 Jan 2016
My family is currently in India.
I am planning to file an ILR dependent visa for my family next year.
- Qualifying years as for spouse(ILR dependent ) before she can can apply for BC ? Is it 3 ys or 5 yrs
- Qualifying years as for children(ILR dependent ) under 18 before they can apply for Registration (BC) - Is it 3 yrs or 5 yrs?
Please advise on possible ways I could get BC for myself and my family.
Thanks

5 years and then she will need ILR before she can apply for Citizenship but she will NOT have to wait 12 months on ILR if you are British and she can apply as soon as she gets ILR as the spouse of British citizen.

5 years. Any visa the children get will be in line with their mother and the children will need ILR before they will be eligible to apply for Citizenship.
There is no quick, easy or cheap route for your family.
Do they have current visas??

Apologies for late response. I am new to this forum and thought there will be notification when my query is answered.
My family do not have visa and they are not in UK. I am planning to apply ILR dependent visa for them next year in Mar'16.
I infer following 2 things from your response. Please correct.
- There is no way to fast track children registration irrespective of their entry in UK as dependent of ILR or British Citizen.
Children registration dependent on mother ILR and not dependent on father ILR/BC status alone.
Thanks in advance.

Children born abroad will get a visa in line with the other parent coming to the UK and will be expected to hold ILR to qualify for British citizenship.
There is no quick route. The child born abroad will qualify for ILR when the other parent does and can register as British once ILR is obtained or when the other parent does.

The status of children born outside the UK is in-line with that that of the less-privileged parent (either mother or father).
Their registration as British citizens is at discretion, which means that the SSHD/Home Office can impose any conditions that they think fit. Currently, children born abroad are registered only if both parents are British citizens or if one is a British citizen and the other parent is applying for British citizenship.
And of course, they must be 18 or younger to register. On or after their 18th birthday, they will need to naturalise in their own right, meeting the usual requirements for naturalisation.
Children born in the UK are entitled (i.e. can not be refused) to be registered as British citizens when either one of their parents attains settled status (either ILR or PR).
