Professional Referee Advice needed.

Hi Guys,

The Professional Referee i am going to use is not a British Citizen. He is on Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. He is a qualified Accountant and runs his own Accountancy firm.

His Business is less than two years old and so does not have any previous address. If he writes his Business address that will be less than two years old but HO asks three years Address history.
So he has written his Home address instead where he is living since last 7 years.

Now the Question is if he does not write his Passport number and neither his Business Address how the Home Office will verify that he is a Genuine Person. ?

Many Thanks.

If he is your professional referee, I would suggest he writes his business address. He can write ' passport details available on request' if he does not wish to give the information. Professional referee can be any nationality but they must have known you for 3 years or more.

If he is qualified, make sure that he is also an active member of the relevant governing body/professional institute etc.

If HO are not happy with your referee, they will likely write to you and ask for another. HO seldom contact referees.

A referee has to have known you for at least 3 years;
s/he doesn't have to have kept the same address for 3 years.

If HO wish to verify your referee (& take up a reference on you) they will no doubt contact them.

Thanks CR001, Fielddrive and noajthan.

Actually they have asked for 3 years address history as well.

"If you have been at this address for less than 3 years please list previous addresses on page 23"

Home Address.. 7 Years
Business Address.. 1.5 years ( P.N There is no previous business address)

Please advice me which address should i write as current Address and which address as Previous address on P23.

@Fielddrive.. I will be applying after 10 days. Have you already applied?

Thanks

As far as I'm aware there is no requirement for either of the referees to enter their work address under the referee section. My understanding based on the guidance is that the home office would do their own background checks to establish whether the referees meet the conditions stated.

I applied a couple of weeks ago and both my referees entered their personal addresses on the AN form. However on the passport application form my professional referee entered the work address (as requested on the form).

Note that I applied using the NCS pilot scheme where both AN and passport applications were submitted at the same time, hence the reason for my comment on the referee/counter signatory address entered on the passport form.

I have my appointment with the council on Monday so lets see how it goes.

By the way, if it helps, I have been a professional referee for a few people in the past and I always put my home address. All of them are British citizens now and I was never contacted by the home office.

I looked at the list of accepted referee categories online but I've a query- it doesn't say doctor!

My husbands bosses wife who we know well is a cardiologist and has known my husband since 2009.

Is she accepted?

This thread is a query for referees for Form AN not passport applications. You are looking at the AN referee list.
