Name change after naturalisation but before passport

Hello all,
I want to change the spellings of my child. He is already naturalised British citizen but has not applied the british passport yet.
Will it cause any issues if I just change the name using deed poll and attach the proof with the naturalisation letter (having old name) for British passport application ?
Thanks

Minor do not naturalise, adults do.
Does the child hold another passport that remains uncancelled / valid?

Sorry I meant citizenship. He was a Tier-1 dependent before but got the citizenship certificate after parent got ILR, as he was born in UK.
Yes he does have another valid passport with older name. Does that affect the process?

Guess I have two options:-
1. Name change through deed poll --> New additional passport --> New British passport with older name in the citizenship certificate
2. British passport with older name --> Name change through deed poll --> New British passport
Which is better ?

Option 2 would be the better option.

I am in a similar position.
My child was born in UK and took my first name as the surname. All documents -> UK Birth Certificate, Indian passport, and registration certificate (naturalisation) in this name.
Then I did a Deed Poll for to change surname to the family name.
Applied for UK passport online with new name, and provided the deed poll as evidence - but I have been told a UK passport CANNOT be issued in the new name. This is because UK will NOT issue a passport in new name while the Indian passport is in old name. They were quite strong in advocating this, I spoke to two levels above the person who typically answers the Passport Advice Line.
They have advised me to get my child's Indian passport cancelled first, so the sequence of events will be
Registration (Naturalisation) DONE -> Name Change (via Deed Poll) DONE -> Surrender Indian Passport -> Apply for UK PP in new name
Does this seem logical, moderators? Typically I see on the forum, people get UK PP and then go for surrendering the home passport.
I have no issues surrendering the passport (I have to do it anyway for OCI) but paranoid about leaving child without a passport if they spring any new things on me after surrender (Indian cancelled and UK not issued).
Your thoughts, please?

Similar scenarios discussed here, including some Indian cases:

Without a British passport, the Indian passport will not be cancelled.
The least cumbersome, though expensive by £75, process:
1. Get British passport in the same name as Indian passport.
2. Surrender Indian passport.
3. Apply for new British passport under the new name.
4. Apply for OCI under new name, include both (old name and new name) British passports and deed poll.

I placed that request already. But they are not ready to issue passport in old name as well, because they have the Deed Poll and they won't issue in any name other than the new one. They want us to get it changed in the Indian Passport but I have made it clear to them as the child is already registered British, the only change Indian Embassy will make on the Indian Passport is to cut the corner and stamp it cancelled.
The HMPO lady has gone back to seek advice from her manager.

And that too only after a British passport is issued.
Bring to their kind attention clause 6.1 and 6.3 of their own (HO published) document titled "Indian Citizenship Law" (
Chapter 14 ->
Annex H).

Thanks sushdmehta for fishing that out.
The lady came back to me and said they are referring this to their policy team, no timescales provided.
I have quoted the info you provided in an email to them.
