Hello ,

Does HO look for the working hours during AN application ? One of my friend currently has ILR and now want to apply for British nationality but he was working over 20 hours during his student visa about 7 years ago. Will this lead to refusal of his AN application ?

Thank yo u

If they look into it then he will not be able to satisfy good character requirement and may lead to refusal.

No one knows how much checks are being made on it but HO does have access to several systems.

The HO are now making more stringent checks on employment and any discovery of working in excess of the permitted hours may well result in a refusal.

An application that fails on such grounds, namely illegal working hence failing the 'good character' test, is likely to attract a 10-year ban on any further application.

Ref HO guidance on this critical matter:

He may want to also double-check during which period of the academic year he worked more than 20 hours. Students are normally restricted to 20hrs during term-time but can work full-time during vacation periods, before their course starts and after their course has ended.
