UK Born Child but without any nationality

Hi
I had recently acquired my ILR and looking to register my 2 children born in the UK for British Citizenship. All along I was under the impression that I need to fill out MN1 form but reading the guide for that has confused me. It said,
"1.9 Enter the child’s present nationality. If an application is being made on the basis that the child is stateless (i.e. he or she does not have the nationality of any country), an application should be made on form S2 or S3."

While form S2 is for someone born overseas, form S3 is talking about living continuously in the UK for 5 years etc.

Appreciate if the experts can throw some light on this. I have an appointment at NCS centre tomorrow, so a quick response would go a long way in saving me some money.

cheers

Child would most likely inherit parents' nationalities at time of birth.

They are not stateless.
My understanding is they have your nationality as they are not British (yet).

MN1 is correct form.

Thank you guys for the quick response.

I was on the phone just now with the Home Office and essentially the agent said the same thing as Noajthan.

Thank you once again

cheers

I hope you told the agent your nationality, because the answer depends on the nationality of the parents. For example, the children of Australians born outside Australia isn't born Australian and the child of British citizens born outside the UK isn't necessarily born British.

Please try not to confuse the issue. HO is does not have authority on other nationalities and laws. If the OP is say Indian, the child is Indian, same as parents. The child is not stateless but can be registered as BC if born in the UK once parents have ILR, which is what is being asked.

Moreover, being stateless or not should be irrelevant for a registration under section 1(3).

However, HO's interpretation of the foreign nationality laws may be different from the foreign country's interpretation.
