I wonder if someone can advise.

My wife has held ILR for 12 months now. She came to the UK in July 2011.

Does this mean, she can apply for Citizenship now or does she need to wait till July as this is when she would complete 5 Years in the UK.

Also, I am thinking of apply via post, I understand I have to send all originals for her application but do I need to send my UK Passport with it or can I send photocopies of my passport.

If you are British, she could have applied ages ago as soon as she was granted ILR. She applies based on 3 years residence as spouse of BC and was not required to wait 12 months on ILR (assuming you are British born).

I strongly suggest you use NCS. There is also a joint citizenship and passport application process now through NCS, which appears to be processed a bit quicker.

I was under impression that we have to wait for 12 months after ILR to apply for naturalisation.

No, she could have applied as soon as you were granted citizenship. The 12 months wait after ILR is granted is ONLY applicable to person NOT married to British citizens (in whichever way Citizenship was obtained).

Best get it in now and get the process started.

Just make sure she meets all the requirements as their were some changes to the English language criteria end of last year. Not sure what she used for ILR.

She had to pass LIUK and B1 which I understand should be valid for form AN.

What documents shall I attach for continuous residence. I can attach

She needs her passports, your passport, marriage cert, LIUK, English.
