Applying for Citizenship, but have plans to travel

Hi All,

I am from India and got my Tier1 (General) -> ILR in May 2015. I have booked NCS appointment for 31st May 2016.

I am planning to go to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia(KSA) in September 2016 for pilgrimage. For this I need to apply for pilgrimage visa in a month or so, which would be stamped on my Indian Passport.

So the issue is when I get the British Citizenship (if it comes in say Aug 2016), then, I may have to give away my ILR BRP and also have to surrender my Indian Passport (as you know India does not allow dual citizenship).

My question is: what should i do if i get the BC before i go to KSA? Can I request the Home Office to allow me to use the ILR until after my trip to KSA? so that I can use the Indian Passport with KSA visa?

Or

In the comments section of the AN form, can I request Home Office to give me citizenship in the month of September 2016 ?

Or

Any other thing that you would suggest?

I don't want to delay applying for BC, as the rules (and cost) can change any time :(

Thanks

You now have to return BRP within (from memory) 5 days after naturalising.

HO are unlikely to entertain such special requests, they are not configured to do so.

The prices only change once a year, usually March/April. The rules don't really change.

Suggest delay applying if you are that concerned and apply closer to the travel time.

Thank you.

May I know if there would be any change in rules after referendum?

No one knows what post referendum would be- not even the government!

The referendum is about the EU and the changes if the UK stays, which will concern those who used the EU free movement rules to get to the UK.
You are applying under UK immigration rules, not EU rules.
