I have recently got a ILR Based on Long Residence. I have also applied for my mrs visa as FLR (M), I am yet to receive decision on her application. I did not include my children on FLR (M) form as they are born in the UK and we were told that they can apply for BC once I get the ILR, but I am not sure. I have also read the both forum Q&A related ( your say yes but home office use word parents in guide mn1 which make it confusing for me ) to BC for Child (MN1) and Home office guidance but still can't get the clear answer.

My question's

1) I have two children born in the United Kingdom, can they apply for British Citizen ? If only i hold the ILR ?

2) Do both parents need to hold ILR in order for children to apply for BC ? or just one parent ILR is enough ?

3) Also as my mrs visa application is still under consideration can i still apply for my children BC ?

1. Yes, you can apply.

2. No. Only one parent has to hold ILR.

3. Yes. You need your passport and ILR BRP for children citizenship applications though.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply

Only one problem here, My Passport is still with home office with my mrs application as our application were send together by my solicitors with a request to send all the documents together including my passport. ( Strange but As told by my solicitors )

they have only send my brp card so far and after than have any considered my mrs application as they have recently requested us to provide a employer letter in support of my mrs application.

Can I still apply for my children citizen with just brp card and photocopy of passport ?
