Biometric letter validity

Hi,

I am planning to apply for the citizenship next week. Due to difficult family situation, I will have to travel abroad for 3 to 4 weeks and it might get delayed too. From the timeline I gather it takes anywhere between 13 to 23 working days to receive the bio-metric letter from the date of application. I would like to understand, within how many days are we expected to provide biometric, so i can plan my trip. I also gather they send a second letter requesting the same, is this right? if so in total how many days do i get before i risk it.

if i get a scanned copy of this letter, will i be able to take it with me to a local British embassy and provide bio metric?

Many thanks in advance.

But is it possible to give it in different country ? if so whats the procedure.

thanks a lot,

Since you haven't made your application yet why not just hold off six weeks or so until you are back in the country, or wait three weeks or so until you have your biometrics letter? This is such an important matter I would not dream of complicating it so much for the sake of a few weeks.

This is the response I got from NationalityBiometrics team.
You will have to enrol your biometrics details as part of the application process. If you will be out of the country for more than 30 days you may be able to enrol your biometrics in the country you are visiting. You would need to tell us which country so we can send you the right letter.. There are Centres in most of the major cities. Details will be included in the letter you will receive once we have set up your record. The letter will detail how and where you can enrol your Biometrics. Otherwise the letter you will receive will be for taking to a UK Post Office.

At this stage we are not sure if you have submitted an application.

If you need to contact us in future so we can access your record please give you full name, date of Birth and address.
I asked the question because my wife want to travel back home because of health issues after submitting her application and she will return after the application decision is made. I am planning to submit a cover letter explaining the same at NCS(not sure whether they will accept it) and send an email to NationalityBiometrics@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk providing her details. Do not count me on this as I am yet to submit my application and convey the outcome but I am thinking to take the risk.
