MN1 Return of Documents request

Hello everyone. As in a subject, I have placed the application for my children aged 7 and 9 under section 1.3 around 10 days ago. I should use NCS to avoid sending passports but hey I thought my children ID cards are still fine only to learn few days ago that they expired 6 month ago. Anyway, we need passports for holiday in 3 weeks! Now, reading the request of Documents form it is badly worded:
''As the parent/guardian of a child or young person named as a dependant on the application, you can only request the withdrawal of the child or young person from the application. You can request the return of any documents which are wholly in the name of the child or young person.''
Does it mean that the application will be withdrawn if I request the documents back? What is your experience please? The advisor on the phone line said that I need to wait 3 months before I ask for the documents - I challenged her why and where does it say and lady politely said that she doesn't know

.
Further down the form it gives me option to tick asking if I want to withdrawn through application. I don't want to withdraw it.
Please help. Will asking for passports so early is likely to affect my children application? I dont want tooose £2k. The question has been asked in a sort of similar case but it was few years ago so things may have changed since. Hence new post.
My best regards Michael

If you read the information on the return of documents request form, it clearly says when you can ask for the documents back (from memory I think it is a minimum of 10 working days since HO received the application). If you do it before this, the application will also be withdrawn.
If you don't want to withdrawn the application, simply say NO when it asks if you want to!
I requested return of my passport 1 month after HO received my application for a DCPR and they returned it in 4 working days.

Does this also apply to children as the wording suggests the application will be withdrawn if I request documents back.
Also when the 10 days stary to count? Date of postal delivery or..
Thanks

Many thanks ohara I read this in a first place and this is confusing. Anyway I was asking more for recent experience with similar case rather than info on website which I have gone through number of times..

nevertheless your help is much appreciated.

Dear ohara,
It is so nice to see your information online. I have sent my EEA application with my passport and UK Working visa to the Home office. And after 5 weeks they received my application, I applied to return my documents online. But now it is 10 days past, I still get no news back. I did write the reason I need my passport and uk visa back for company my family for health treatment in an EU country.
Can I ask you do you know other better ways to contact them instead of the online form? Do you know any phone number or email address? Can I ask what reason you gave that they could return it in such a short time period 4 days?
Best,
Weini

I don't think there is a phone number for the return of documents department now, it's all online/email/snailmail.
It does say on the website:
The return of your documents may take more than 10 working days if:
You request your documents within ten working days from the date you submitted your application.
We are unable to identify your application from the information you provide in the form.
We are unable to identify which documents you require from the information you provide in the form.
We need to contact you and are unable to do so using the details you provide in the form.
We need to undertake further checks on your application or documentation.
The address you provide on the form does not match the address on our records.
There may also be times when we are exceptionally busy where it will take longer for documents to be returned.
Remmeber it is
working days too. I suggest waiting it out for a couple more days. There is a form somewhere you can use to chase up a RoD request but I don't know where it is.
When I asked for my passport back I wrote that I needed to travel urgently.

Dear Ohara,
Thank for your fast reply. As the case of urgently travelling, I do need my documents by next Wednesday (July 13th). I did fill the second request to chase up a RoD request. I don't know what else I can do. Feel so helpless on this.
Best,
Weini

Hi there!
One more question - sounds obvious, but hey..
We applied for Naturalization of my son under section 1.3 ,my son is 9 at the moment.
Do I request the documents back on behalf of my son as a 'Main applicant'
or I request the documents as a 'Parent/guardian' - but the wording of the explanation is not very positive and mansions potential withdrawn of application.

I would like to know when are the documents returned if you DON'T apply for them to be returned? do they just keep them for the duration? my son has his ID card, so its not urgent but I would have been happier for him to travel with his passport.
Also it say at the end of the request that having the documents returned could delay the application, another reason I might just let him travel with his ID card.
