Can I apply for British Passport before getting the naturalization?
No, you cannot. It is only possible if you applied through NCS using the JCAP (joint citizenship and passport application) scheme.

...and even then your passport wouldn't be issued until after your BC application has been approved and you have attended your citizenship ceremony.

But you didn't apply with the JCAP scheme, which is also through NCS. The applicant has to specifically state they want to apply using JCAP.

...and as mentioned previously, even using the JCAP service (which you haven't) you would only be issued with a British passport once you had attended your citizenship ceremony.

To the OP, you will have to wait until after your ceromony and apply seperately for the passport.
JCAP would have been a quicker route to getting a British Passport. Usually the passport is received within a week or two after obtaining BC and no interview to attend.
Applying seperately, the process is usually six weeks for first time applicants and you will have to attend an interview. Processig times are only guidelines and can vary dependng on individual circumstances.

Indeed, I got my first passport exactly 2 weeks after applying, and that was in late June!

for how long before you gave the interview for the passport, if you got your passport within the two weeks? And where do we need to go for the passport interview?

I believe Ohara used the JCAP service. In which case no interview was required.

Nope, JCAP was not available here when I applied for citizenship!
Had my ceremony on 14th June
Applied for passport online 15th
Posted documents by special delivery on 17th (delivered on 20th as HMPO has Saturday delivery inhibited!)
Documents returned along with interview letter on 29th
Attended interview 30th
Passport arrived 4th July (happy independence day USA)
Total time from HMPO receiving my declaration and documents to me receiving passport = 14 days
Best part about it is not even how fast it was, but the fact that I got my naturalisation certificate to HMPO and back again without it being folded
