UK Naturalisation - proving residency - Ctax

Hi there,

I get a lot of conflicting info with regards the documentation for proving residency.
The AN Guide does provide very scant info:
Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government
Departments indicating the applicant’s presence in the United Kingdom during
the relevant period
So, the first question is an obvious one: do bills and bank statements count?
Some say yes, some say no. Even at the HO helpline, the answers can be both yes/no depending on who you talk.

Now, my situation is that I have solid letters of employment for the last 10 years with the exception of:

- last 4 years -> 2 long-term travels of 300 days (in total)
- last 2 years -> 4 months of work and 7 months of self sufficiency.

For travels, I can show my tickets, not a problem.
As for the 7 months of self sufficiency, I thought that Council Tax payments will do.
And that's the funny part. My CT payments are paperless, and the Council will only send CT detail s (in paper) for the current year, nothing for the past. The CT won't stamp anything printed out of the web.

The usual catch-22: governments request things that other institutions won't/can't (they practically can, but won't) provide.

I was thinking of giving the Internet print-out backed by paper (original) copies of my bank statement showing the Ctax payments.

Will that be accepted or rejected?
Is there anything else I can provide?

Forget about helpline.

Are you on the UK or EU migration route?

Passport/s will suffice if on UK migration trajectory.

What did you use to prove residency in UK when you applied for the DCPR (now mandatory for naturalisation) in order to confirm you have settled status (PR)?

The usual: a mix of P60/P45, Ctax bills and bank statements.

But this is different.
When I did my PR, I had to prove 5 years of continual residency, no matter which years in the past (not necessarily the last 5). So I picked up 5 solid years in the period 2005-2010.
It's only the last 4 years that are less solid, mostly because I have travelled, and most importantly, I have not worked (but still continued to pay bills and Ctax.).

So cobble together whatever you have got. As official as possible. And originals.
So tax docs, medical docs, voter registration, driving license, insurance & etc etc.

So you recommend to include bills and bank statements too, right?
(no medical docs, no driving license or insurance).

I have bought a property and renovated. Would theese paper be relevant?

Yes, throw them in the mix; it's a case of whatever you've got with weight and credibility.
(Letters from family members not so helpful).

Thanks for your help on this!
As far as I understand, there is really no black & white rule as to what really gets considered as relevant and what's not. In my case, I'll throw in whatever "authoritative" document shows my activity in the UK for my self sufficiency period.
