I was born and lived in South Africa (my Dad was born in the UK) and obtained a British Passport in 1993. I lived and worked in a permanent job in the UK from 1994-1998 (and was not out of the country for more than 270 days over this time) (can also prove being their through NI contributions). I returned to South Africa, got married to a South African and had 2 children. Has anyone else had the same sort of experience applying for British citizenship for their children under Section 3 (2) which came out in 2010 applying from South Africa?

If you have substantial evidence proving your residence at that time, you should be fine to apply. It is not a very common application, we see on the forum.
