Return of biometric residence permits

Hello all,
I have been reading about applicants having to return their biometric residence permits (BRP) after they received their citizenship confirmation. I am an EEA citizen. I did my biometrics at the post office yesterday and expected to receive some form of card or certificate to send back at one point, but I did not. Now I am wondering if the return of BRP is only applicable to non-EU citizens?
Any advice is appreciated!
