After Renouncing British Citizenship

Hi
I may be repeating the topic but I still couldn't find the answer. Therefore let me raise again.

I have a 2 citizenships - my original country (OC) and British citi (BC). My OC is outside EU, outside commonwealth and doesn't allow a dual citizenships.

I have lived in UK for 17 years so far. I now consider to renounce BC. I am self-employed, having an own business, and have a mortgage for property purchased.

I wish to know what will happen after renouncing? Procedures that I understand is that -
1. renounce British citizenship
2. obtain the OC passport (already in hand anyway, even include ILR)
3. say I obtained the OC passport within in UK hence already being in hand
4. is my old ILR status retained or not?
5. if my ILR became invalid since obtaining BC, what should I do to remain in UK after renouncing?
6. moreover what will happen to my business and property.

The whole idea is I want to give up BC and stay in UK with ILR under my original country.

Many thanks for your time and advice.
ZZ

Unless you qualify for a category of visa, if you renounce your British citizenship you will have no right to remain in the UK.

Your ILR became void as soon as BC was granted and you don't get it back.

There's a good chance you no longer have citizenship from your OC. If you wouldn't mind sharing that nationality, we can probably research that point. In which case, you wouldn't be able to renounce your BC anyway as the UK government will require that you demonstrate that you currently hold another citizenship before renunciation. Has your OC passport expired?

Is the OC by any chance India? How did you acquire British citizenship and when?

As said above your ILR is cancelled automatically when you become British. I don't see why it would be a problem for your property or business. But you would lose your right to live in the UK.

I do believe that HO will not allow you to renounce your BC unless you can prove that you have another or will acquire another nationality immediately (i.e the UK won't allow you to become stateless). It may cause some problems if they discover your other nationality is in fact one of a country which does not permit multiple nationality, and which you have already automatically lost upon becoming British and cannot easily resume.
