Does successful AN application mean Naturalisation APPROVAL?

Good afternoon
Me and my wife applied for Naturalisation (using form AN) as British Citizen, submitted our application through NCS together in one appointment.
Is this considered to be a joint application? We filled separate forms.
Couple of months later, after submitting the application, we received ONE letter addressed to me and my wife's names saying, that the application we sent has been successful.
Does this mean both me and my wife's AN-naturalisation applications are approved?
Is the letter received in joint names considered to be the approval letter?
We have not received any ceremony letter with the above letter or any other communication since then, and its been a long wait.
Is there a separate approval letter, has the letter we have received counts as APPROVAL letter or ceremony letter is to be considered approval ?
I am seeking your forums advice as I didn't want to call the home office as I am afraid it may jeopardise my application. As they have advised not be contacted for at least 6 months after a naturalisation application has been submitted.
I would appreciate any information.
Followed this forum throughout my immigration journey and this forum is very helpful place for all immigration information, special thanks to VINNY!

There are no joint applications.
What did letter actually say and when did you receive it?
Have you moved house or otherwise changed addresses in the meantime?
If you have been approved then you need to have attended the oath/pledge ceremony within 3 months.
You should receive a letter from your designated council to invite you to a ceremony or to arrange a ceremony.

Thanks for the reply.
I don't know how to attach an image other wise I would have pasted an image.
Format of the letter is below: the main jist
Dear Mr Forename Surname and Mrs Forename Surname
Please accept documents back, we have noted all information.
I am please to say your application has been successful. (it didn't say anything about what or which application has been successful)
This letter is not an invitation to attend a citizenship ceremony. You should not contact your local authority.
Yours sincerely
Case Worker
Does this sound like an approval letter for both me and my wife?
What are your suggestions should I contact my local council to book in the ceremony, what reference number you need to give to council.
Thanks again for help.

On what date did you apply for citizenship?
On what date did you receive the letter and did it include all your supporting documents?
All approval letters have a reference number on that the council needs.

It does sound like an approval for 1 or both of you. Congratulations.
You should have received a council invitation fairly soon afterwards - suggest contact concerned local council to see what's going on.
If same address then they should have found you.
How long ago did all this happen?

Thanks for your replies
I applied on 1st Sept 2016, one appointment using NCS.
I now remember when I received the payment acceptance letter from Home Office it was on our joint names.
Adding to my confusion.
But we received separate acknowledgment letters with separate reference numbers a bit later requesting biometrics.
I received the current letter from home office on 20 Oct 2016, since then no other letters.
If I call the council, what reference numbers should I quote?
The one on the most recent letter or the reference number stated on Biometrics letter?
Sorry If I may sound asking dumb questions as I want to be cautious with my approach, as not to hassle Home Offices due process in any way.

Phone the council and explain to them. Have all your letters so that you can give them the numbers you have for them to check but if your latest letter has a reference, start with this one first.
Does the letter state HO Liverpool on a beige coloured paper. I find it strange that your application was processed so quickly.

Admirable restraint, too many people panic after 3 days of submission.
But in this case you are justified in following up as a matter of urgency.

I just got all the paper trail out.
The most recent letter follows the same pattern since the original acknowledgment, all logos, typical HO paper and all reference number's seems to be the same to address to me and my wife, EVEN ON BIOMETERICS LETTER the reference number is the SAME for me and my wife.
original confirmation letter says
TYPE OF APPLICATION: AN6(1)+
Probably this is different type of application (on saying so I am not an expert)
The original acknowledgement letter is only on my name, with payment deduction of £2472.00
Do you usually receive separate ceremony letters?
and from your experiences does the approval or success letter itself has the invitation to the ceremony?
@noajthan I reckon I have to show restraint now as I am not British yet, probably after the citizenship I shall be more demanding...

Yes, but if approved you only have 3 months to attend your oath ceremony - or approval will lapse. And almost 1 month is up already.

And you are usually required to BOOK your ceremony within 21 days of receiving the approval letter.
Suggest stop posting on the forum for now and contact the council urgently and then update us.
